Stick time limited

What determines if an uploaded pattern is "stickied" on the first page for a longer period of time?

"This thread was moderated (Stick Time Limited)"
vs
"This thread was moderated (Move)"

Being stickied gives a better opportunity to earn more gold coins so it seems unfair to those that aren't stickied to first page.

The stick patterns also seem to be the 200 gold coins ones.

Once patterns are buried the chance of earning gold coins greatly diminishes.

Please clarify.
Thanks!

I stopped uploading.

My latest patterns were approved and didn't even hit FIRST page so what is the point? If they aren't easily seen they don't sell.

To say people will find them by searching name if they are interested isn't really fair, how many pattern names can you recall? I buy based on style, not a name I don't even know.

I'm not PAYING to have a pattern that is newly released by the designer get buried.

And yes as soon as it was approved it was NOT on first page because I was online so the sorting for "LATEST" released patterns does NOT work.

New people to this site will think there aren't any NEW patterns being added if they don't know people can PAY to stick their patterns on the first page.

You have to look way past the first few pages to see newly uploaded patterns unless you caught sight of them on the approval page first. If you see a pattern you like there your best bet is to save it to favorites because chances are it will be buried 10 pages up at least.

When you sort "LATEST" there are patterns uploaded years ago AHEAD of newly uploaded in the past week or month.

Search is broken or skewed to those who are paying for first page placement.

All new patterns should get "stuck" for at least 24 hours to be fair to all.

Oh well, if it can't be fair for all there is no point in uploading anymore.

I have way more patterns than life at this point!

I'll probably just keep my newly released patterns to myself and just buy a few here and there unless this is addressed.

You need to click on "more" and choose "post time" - that usually works for me as I don't want to see the same thing over and over either. You can then choose 1 day, two, a week, etc.   Post time 2019-1-7 06:05

New downloads will be on the first page if you select:

More -> Order by: Post Time

More, Order.jpg

You're right: sometimes being stickied gives a better opportunity to earn more gold coins, and and it costs 20 gold coins for 24 hours.
Use magic -> Set top card -> Buy  (1 or more items)

Set top card.jpg

Press "Use" only.

Press use.jpg

An uploaded pattern is "stickied" on the first page for 24 hours.

In my experience the chance of earning Gold Coins remains, if pattern is interesting to other members - it's always found by searching.

Thank you for the clarification! I did not know you could purchase a spot on the first page! I thought items appeared on the first page as they were uploaded - mine did & mine say stuck or stick :-)   Post time 2019-1-3 10:51

I think the term "stick" as they use it means the time it is posted, not that it's stuck anywhere.  Nothing stays on the "front" page as far as I know.  The new ones are above the older ones.  Hopefully, people will search and find your uploads (they have searched mine, I still get downloads from things I posted over a year ago).  Those 200 GC posts are on the first page because they were the latest (stickied) approved.  If you come back in a few days they will have moved down the list.  You can also search on the pattern page using different criteria i.e., past day, past two days, etc.  And, of course, they have a search feature at the top of ever page so you can look for specific patterns.  It's easy to get discouraged - don't!

I've been skipping the first few pages with the stickied over priced patterns. :D

SAME patterns over and over....if I didn't want to buy it the first time seeing it I don't want it after seeing it 20 times! :P

Hope they are getting their coins worth since they are there for way longer than 24 hours!

Indeed. (( I rarely look knitting (although I know how to knit).  Post time 2019-1-5 05:24
Look at the knitting posts. Many, many are now charging 200 GCs. I want to thank you for being one of the few who always offers "red" cards - much appreciated!  Post time 2019-1-5 03:37
In the section "Cross stitch Patterns Repaint" only downloading costs 199 Gold Coin :(  Post time 2019-1-5 02:30
In the section "Cross stitch Patterns Scanned" of the forum there are not often designs costing 100 (200) GC, which section are you talking about? I want to look at expensive patterns :)  Post time 2019-1-5 02:26

I just wanted to tell you I've seen the same patterns on the first page for days now so obviously those folks paid to keep them there.  I was unaware you could do that so you are 100% correct!

I do not know how to do this for longer than 24 hours (without a break).  Post time 2019-1-5 05:31

!

Thanks for the reminder!
I've tried that search in the past but forgot about it. Way too many search options!

more> post time certainly makes a difference and should be the default if you want to see the REAL latest uploads...Not many patterns are actually being uploaded it seems when you search this way.

If new people want to see NEWLY UPLOADED patterns that is the search method that seems to work.

Search is broken or paid skewed for the default all threads> latest since it isn't the "LATEST" search when knitting patterns from years ago pop up on the first page before the patterns that were actually uploaded recently!

For what it's worth, I've uploaded a bunch of new patterns (all less than 100GC's ! :P, and they are all still on the front page 2+ days later, and I didn't pay anything to do that. I wonder if the mods have a rating system for what patterns are the most popular?

Thanks for the info. I was unaware that posters could pay to have their pattern stay on the first page. I wandered why I can not find new patterns and now I know.
