[Typical Courses] How to park threads

When I stitch a HaED, I use both the parking and the cross country method.  I find one of the downsides of parking, when you are working on a highly confetti'd area, is sometimes you bring the thread up at the wrong spot.
How many of us who have parked, go to park a thread, only to find another in it's place?
I've found what helps with this, is when I park a thread, I draw a line through the bottom of the square in the pattern. This tells me there is a thread parked there.  (When I complete the stitch, I color the entire box in).  This way, if I go to park a thread and there is already one in that particular hole, I can look at my pattern and usually easily see where that thread should go.
It's not perfect, but it has helped.
