I think only christmas red and navy blue may bleed.

Comments

I stitched a couple of reds onto a piece of fabric and then soaked it in warm water... I didn't see any bleeding... I wonder if it varies by batch! I hate how reds are always the ones that bleed/fade  Details Reply Post time 2013-8-11 05:12

i was taught to wash my finished work in lukewarm water, to not squeeze it just gently moving it around
but i used dmc for baby bibs and they washed well till 60 celsius,
no loss of colors and the stains were removed,
would not dare it with a larger piece

Yes, I just wash my finished work in warm soapy water and then rinse, squeeze and hang it out to dry. I have had no problems yet  Details Reply Post time 2013-8-14 03:04

Ive never had a problem with brand name thread bleeding (dmc/anchor) only cheaper thread or overdyed where the dye hasnt been set properly. But I only ever handwash anything stitched.

You could test it before you start by stitching a few squares of each color onto a scrap then washing it the way you plan to wash the completed item to see if it bleeds.

I've never experienced DMC bleeding.  However, the suggestion above for using Synthrapol is a great one if you're worried about the reds running.

O.O I've never heard of Synthrapol, but I'll definitely check it out now Thanks!  Details Reply Post time 2013-8-12 07:15
