Wow first started cross stitching in my early teens a long long time ago. And most of my stitching have been gifts. I have stitched tons of birth announcements through the years and have done the kids names in various fancy lettering as they got older.

I was 9 and we had to do it at school as part of the crafting class. I really hated all this stuff, loved the woodwork that the guys were doing instead. My grandma finished all my stitching work. Then when I was around 20, I got a chart as birthday present, I got hooked immediately and the rest is history ;)
I started with cross-stitch in my 20's when I was first married, but I was doing embroidery with my mother as a young girl. Her needlework was beautiful! She was doing 22 count CS in her late 80s the night before her devastating stroke, and she was never able to do a thing ever that. :'(
