I love afghans, especially cross stitch afghans as gifts. The sunflower afghan, which was fringed before it was sent, and the ABC afghan were gifts. The sunflowers went to a 2nd cousin as a wedding gift (appropriately cleaned and ironed) and the ABC went to a friend who has a lovely little girl.
I love doing cross stitch almost as much as I love giving them away. I get the gift of doing and others get the gift of using.
The sunflower afghan is from a very old pamphlet from Lesiure Arts and it took a lot of searching to find it. I remembered the design and decidd it was perfet for my cousin. Thank goodness for the Internet or it would have taken much longer to find.
As for the ABC afghan, the number of floss strands seemed too puny, so I increased the number and changed some of the colors. I think the finished afghan looks better for the changes. If I've any advice, it's don't be afraid to change the pattern, colors, and number of threads used. It is after all yours.
