CA P2 W8.JPG

Hello everyone! So sorry for the late post! I don't know where my mind's been today! :o

I hope you are all ready for the upcoming holiday! I am still 2 projects behind on my gift list and am really starting to stress that I won't have them finished in time for Christmas! Not to mention we don't have ANY shopping done yet! EEK! :funk:  Nine days left in the count down...time to really start cracking the whip!!! :P

**For those of you who may have missed it last week, @carton shared a great tip with us about joining the motifs using the double crochet and slip stitch. It is an excellent trick that you may be interested in using! I wish I would have known of this sooner...but at least I know now for future motif projects! To check it out click HERE (see #12).

I would also like to point out that we have a new addition to our CA team...please share a friendly welcome with Miss @crochetnmama ! She won't be starting this project until after the holidays, but she will be following along with us each week. Please help her out in getting up to speed and sharing any tips or tricks you may have learned to get her started strong! Many of the group are currently taking a break or are also waiting to get going until the holidays have passed. Everyone has plenty of time to get started or to catch up! I for one am very much looking forward to seeing many more progress pictures in January!!! YIPPIE FOR THE HAPPY HIPPOS!!! :D

CROCHET ALONG - STITCH SCHEDULE
**I do have a favor to ask, if any of you have already worked an African Flower Motif and you could share with us some advice or alternative tips outside from the pattern, please share with us below. I grately appreciate it in advance!

10/28/2013 - PROJECT 2 - WEEK 1
Please take this time to download and review the pattern in its entirety! READ IT THOROUGHLY! You are going to want to design and plan out your colors for each piece. Take note of any materials you may need to acquire and take this time to do so. I have posted some pictures above to help boost your creative minds :)

This is a very extensive pattern that includes some new techniques you may or may not be familiar with. All the details are included within the pattern download and I HIGHLY recommend you follow it completely. Practice these new techniques and learn the different motifs! For a successful finished project you will need to know exactly what to do and how to assemble the pieces. If you come across any concerns or questions simpily reply to this thread and we will work on it together!

11/04/2013 - PROJECT 2 - WEEK 2
Weekly check-in thread -
continue practicing your motifs and techniques from the Week 1. Gather your materials and plan out your project. Decide which joining method you prefer and how you want to proceed. It seems like many of us are using the join-as-you-go method, this is not mandatory, you can choose to make all of the pieces first and join them at the end.  Your preference! Please take note that I will be following the pattern for the stitch schedule and the pattern is based on the join-as-you-go method. Again this is all up to you and what you are most comfortable with.

SIDE NOTE: The designer has chosen to start the motifs with Ch 5 and slip stitch to form a ring. If you prefer, as I do, you can substitute the Ch 5 for a magic circle. If you do not know how to work the magic circle, YouTube has some wonderful tutorials! I find that it makes it easier when using the magic circle and it gives you the ability to adjust the tightness of the inner circle simply by pulling on a piece of yarn! Look it up and judge for yourself! **Please note, this only stands as a reference, you do not need to use the magic circle

I did the left & right side and top of bum. It's getting kind of hard to photograph.

It looks great! My joins don't look near that neat!

...colors are so pretty! We both need to remember though....we are our worst critics and enemies when it comes to our own works.  Post time 2013-12-20 19:44
I'm using a worsted 4ply with an F hook...my stitches are somewhat tight but I have these seam bumps....hopefully mine flattens out. I think yours looks really good though! Seriously those...  Post time 2013-12-20 19:43
I'm using join as you go. I just can't seem to get that stitch tight enough, so it just looks a little loose. It might be better once it's stuffed.  Post time 2013-12-19 22:30
...I guess you can't really tell from the pictures but my joins are very bumpy....they stick far out :P  Post time 2013-12-19 19:28
Ha! I think yours look WAY better than mine do! Plus your joins are flat! I'm worried about mine flattening out when it's time to stuff. Are you using the join as you go or whip stitch?  Post time 2013-12-19 19:26
