I do tent stitching on 28 count I didnt like the bulkyness of the full cross. But you van always tryout and do what you like the most. I do that to and than choose the one I like the most.

tent stitch is the same as half cross stitch on the front of the material, a little different on the back

I only really pay attention to the back of the work so as not to make one area too bumpy from running too many threads underneath the same set of stitches. Otherwise it doesn't matter to me because no one ever sees that part anyway!

I think most do it just to cut the stitching time down. If it is on 25 or 28 count and you use 2 strands you get full coverage with just the half cross.

I prefer the look of full x's even if it means the piece takes longer. I just don't feel that tent stitch looks as nice, but it's a matter of taste.

On the front a tent stitch looks like /////// instead of XXXXXXX.  Like the other user said, on a 25 or higher count going at least 2 over 1 the coverage is good.  I am tent stitching 2 over 1 on 25 count on a HAED right now and am happy with how it looks.  The stitches are so small anyway.

it depends on the tolerance. I even do not like tent with 28ct. 32ct is fine, but too tight to stitch
