Dear Crafters (especially those who can read Russian) and moderators!
I have 5 issues of Knitted dreams magazine, and wanna share the with you, as only a couple of them were issued for free, and the next issues were paid ones. So I would love to share them with you, but their size is ridiculuously large (over 200 mb). I would like to ask for advice from you and moderators.
I am ready to work on splitting the magazine into parts - sections that are given in table of contents, so that users can download only the parts that interest them most.
Can I do that?
The work load is quite big, and I dont want to waste time to find the posts rejected.
the magazine is a digital product, every odd page has the number.

Do you have Adobe Acrobat Professional?  If so, you can optimize the .pdf, it will shrink it some.  If you put the file in a zip format, remember to try and make each section 10 mb - that was my mistake, I split something into equal size section.  It makes sense to do the sections like that because the cost to download each section is 30 GC in addition to what you charge for the pattern.  If you had to break the book into 20 sections it would mean the download cost alone would be 600 GC - very expensive.  Try optimizing the file as your first step.  As an avid knitter, Id dearly love to see these magazines.  Remember if you post the free ones, it must say free and you can charge 10 GC maximim for the download but each section will still cost 30 GC to the person who is downloading.  Hope this helps you.  Looking forward to those magazines!

I once commented that a free design had been posted but the poster demanded 100 coins for it - one of the moderators removed my comment for being irrelevant. The rules only apply to some it appears.  Post time 2017-9-17 14:32
Did you try compressing the files in Adobe Acrobat?? It has helped me on occasion. If you are scanning, you could try scanning with a lower pixel rate i.e., 300 instead of 600?? Wish you luck!  Post time 2017-9-17 09:01
but i dont think it will help a lot. but gonna check anyway (:  Post time 2017-9-10 17:03

When I scan pages of a magazine or book the original scan is usually quite large.  If you are using a graphics program to scan then you could try to reduce the image size by about 50%.  I use Paint Shop Pro and this allows me to crop each page so that you only get the useful parts and then I reduce the image size.  After reducing the image I then preview the image on my computer to check that the quality is ok to print from.  A 50% reduction is usually ok, try to reduce to 30% if your files are still too large to make sure that the quality of the scans are still good.

Might take a bit of practice at first but once you get the hang of it it is quite easy.  Good luck.

Have you tried looking online for this magazine? Ravelry have published a few projects and you can flick through pictures of the magazine on other sites.  Post time 2017-9-17 14:42
