Well, that's got about 193 yds in 4 oz., which is probably aran weight. The pattern calls for fingering weight, which would have about 400 yds in 4 oz.  I think you'll run into some major problems with gauge with that large a difference in the yarn.  If you have lots of experience in modifying patterns, you can probably figure out a way to get around that, but otherwise, I'd strongly recommend going with fingering weight yarn, even if you have to go with a solid color.  Sorry :(

Pretty easy, LOL - I  used gradient yarn so it does all the work.  This is all in cotton for a chemo hat, so I used Lana Grossa Summer Lace degradé, which is especially nice as it has the gradient through only 50g as opposed to 100g.

It's funny, that I seem to make comments on your posts. I guess we have similar tastes in patterns. Thanks for the info. I think I will try my Red Heart Ombre' yarn (#4), is this too heavy a yarn?  Post time 2018-1-19 08:29

Lovely! I suppose chemo will be light with it

Not sure I know what you mean by "light" - her chemo is going to be very extensive, and I'm hoping these hats will help to keep her spirits up.
