This casual oversized sweater has an unusual modular construction that makes for an interesting knit – from the striped yoke to the split hem.
Knit top-down in rows starting with the striped yoke in garter stitch, the front and back are then worked separately to form the armholes and only joined in the round at the underarms.
The sleeves and body are worked inside-out in the round to minimize purling and still get the beautiful reverse stockinette texture.
The sleeve stitches are picked up from the armhole and knit down, so if the bracelet length sleeves shown here are not your thing, it’s very easy to modify the pattern to your preferences.
Folded hems create a neat finish along the split hemline, the sleeve cuffs and neckline.
A fake slipped-stitch seam along the back and stockinette bands along the sides add dimension – and some interest to those long stockinette rows.
The sweater is knit in fingering weight yarn - shown here in all the woolly glory of Tukuwool from Finnland. This yarn is both light and hard- wearing, making it a perfect choice for a wardrobe staple.
