I don't know how many of you use Q-snaps, but I have found that, after a while, the clamps gets loose.  I was told to put them in the dishwasher, but I don't have one.   So...  I boiled them!   Yes, I boiled them!
I put them into a pot of boiling water for about 2 minutes.  THen, I used tongs to get them out and set them on towel.   I use the tongs to squeeze them tight because the plastic is hot and pliable.   Then let them sit and cool.
It works well for me.   Hope it works for you!

Интересно!  Я бы никогда не подумал об этом.  Мои немного свободны, но я вырезала кусочки фетра, которые использую поверх ткани и под клипсой, которая держит ткань натянутой и защищает швы.

Clever! I've been putting a thick piece of felt between the snap and my piece. One, it stays clean, and two, it holds tension. I'll have to try this!

As long as it's hot water to heat it up, you don't even need to use a pot, otherwise you need to prepare a special pot for it,lol

Great tip. I use plastic hoops and over time they get loose as well. I will try your suggestion next time before I replace it.

How old are you q-snaps that they have become loose? I've had mine for a year or so and have no problems yet. But I'm glad you've posted this tip for the eventuality that they do "stretch"

Comments

If you slide the older ones, like mine, slightly off top centre of the frame you will hear a crunching kind of sound. That is what I think causes them to loosen up. My daughter has a newer snap and ha  Details Reply Post time 2012-9-3 03:23

Interesting! I would never have thought of that. Mine are a little loose but I have cut pieces of felt that I use on top of the fabric and under the clip which keeps the fabric taut and protects the stitching as well.
