What are your tips for stitching on dark fabric?
Im working on a piece with navy blue aida.I thought I could handle it easy, but a few stitches in, I realized it was alot harder than my normal white aida projects.Do you have any tips?Ive been going slowly and even moved a lamp to the floor so I could see the light through the holes in the fabric.
Give us your knowledge! Thanks, friends :)
A light on the floor works well as you can see the holes better or a light coloured cloth onyour lap will also reflect the light above the fabric. Stitch in daylight if you can as it makes it so much easier with the brilliant sunlight. i agree. stitch in day light. I use a light towel. I wish I could stitch during the day. I use my xs lamp behind the stitching it helps! or maybe you can stitch on a white surface so you can see thru the hole :) Sorry I cant give you any advice on that matter...http://www.laymark.com/l/m/m003.gif
Ive never stitched on a dark fabric, but I think the advices all the girls above have given are quite nice! I specially like the idea of placing a lamp under your project.
Best of luck!

Good luck!! I like the lamp trick; never thought of that. ^^; You could always powder the back of your piece with talc -- the powder that goes through the holes will outline them in white when viewed from the front. Its a dusty method, and you have to shake out all the talc when youre done, though. :L White trousers and a good light.
