Wow thanks, for these posts. I will add that for birthday gift list as I dont usually us a frame but I want to tackle some larger pieces.

		I never made this

I use a lap stand and find it very comfortable :D

I love the Silver Needle Lap Frame but they no longer make them, the nearest to them is from Stitchdirect.com

I have the EZ Stitch lap frame, the kind you sit on.Its definitely not perfect, but its portable, and for those projects where I really need a frame rather than a hoop (such as one that has lots of beads), it works okay.Id really like to get a floor stand, but Id like to see it before I buy it, and where I live, its just not possible to do that (I have to order most of my supplies online - there are almost NO cross stitch supplies within 1 1/2 hour drive).

I have an Élan lap stand from Artisan Designs.I wasnt sure if I would like it to sue sitting in a chair with my feet propped up, but it works great and I love it.I found it on eBay for about 1/3 the cost, which makes me like it even better!

Sorry, I cant help you... but Im curious of you already did pick a design...

this is my stand, can you use with all type of frame
I bought this stand but sent it back when I found out that the cool wooden piece that is holding the frame is not available in the states and is somewhat difficult to find in the UK
