Valdani threads anyone used them?
I have seen some charts which recommend Valdani threads. These appear to be overdyed threads and come in several different types: Perle, six strand, three strand, and so on.Although the threads are manufactured in Romania, they seem to be mainly available in the US.I went on the web site for Valdani, and they give some addresses in the UK, but none of these actually stock many, if any of the threads. They mention the V&A but if this museum is a supplier, it hides the fact very well!Has anyone used these threads? Any comments on them?Anybody know of a UK/EU outlet?
Following this thread Thanks for the info! I have never heard of that brand of cotton. Sorry I can't help :( V & A as in the Victoria & Albert museum ? Makes sense if they exhibit types of threads since they are an art museum . . . supplying is out of the box !But if they do, I am not complaining, good to have a strong brand like V & A to rally artisan makers under their umbrella.

Yes, the Victoria and Albert.Although I have bought V&A kits based on old designs, I have never seen any thread for sale.Looks like a trip to USA would be needed to get hold of these. There appear to be some beautiful hand dyed threads available - just not in Europe! not heard of these - do they give a dmc alternative? x Es la primera vez que oigo ese tipo de hilos If you look on this site for Rosewood Manor Quaker Diamonds sampler, posted by Ekaterina, you will see that Valdani threads are used.It looks like a beautiful piece. The threads used come as 3ply in a ball, like DMC perle 8 and 12.You can see the threads on the cover picture of the sampler.Rich colours, yummy! Haven't seen one, they are overdyed threads, slightly variegated, I think.See Ekaterina's post of Rosewood Manor Quaker Diamonds.A box of the threads is on the cover. rmam replied at 2013-6-16 06:04 static/image/common/back.gif
