I have organized my large DMC floss collection first by wrapping each floss onto a cardboard floss card and labeling it in pen with the DMC floss number. Then I place each cardboard bobbin into a labelled hard plastic floss organizer box. The box holds approximately one hundred bobbins and closes tight. To store all my threads I have seven of these plastic floss organizer boxes. By organizing my threads this way I save time and money because I can easily determine whether I have the color on hand or if I need to purchase anything to start a project.

I do this also. What type of box do you keep them all in?I use photo boxes, but currently it takes 7 of them.I have been researching a better way and may have found something. It is a case that DJs use to store their huge volume of CDs.The CD's are put in "hanging" envelopes that are suspended in the suitcase like hanging file folders would be.Each little folder can hold two CDs, but I would have each color in their own little hanging folder.Cases range in size to hold up to 900 CDs.

Yes, there are many ways to handle the big floss collection. This was posted 8 years ago and still work excellent for me. It's cheap & easy to use. Especially when I want to bring them with my journey. But I am sure that thread organizing will be upgraded soon

I prefer bobbins in an organiser for my current projects, spare skeins get kept in ziplocks

Brilliant! So pretty seeing all the thread colors and I love seeing how everyone organizes their materials! Thank you for sharing! :)

I use plastic bags as well, except mine are ziploc sandwich bags.I write the floss number on an index card and place that in the bag.

It's so much easier using bags. The floss stays cleaner and doesn't have the ripple from winding it around a card bobbin.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing. You gave me an idea to organize mine also. That is one very tidy organizing. I use plastic bobbin and some of my threads are brittle already. Too many wasted floss. :(

I keep mine in zip lock bags on a large ring the 100s are on a ring the 200s are on a ring and
so forth

I use wine boxes - Johnnie Walker as photo :) - which are available at home.
It can contain 110 zipper bags.
I love to reuse all things around home and dont spend much on new ones :D
