How To Knit: The Lattice Diamond Stitch
This stitch is worked over a multiple of 16 stitches plus 2. 16 rows form the pattern.
1st row (WS): P.
2nd row: K1, * LT, K4, RT, rep from * to last st, K1.
3rd and every foll alt row: P.
4th row: K2, * LT, K2, RT, K2, rep from * to end.
6th row: K3, * LT, RT, K4, rep from * to last 7 sts, LT, RT, K3.
8th row: K4, * RT, K6, rep from * to last 6 sts, RT, K4.
10th row: K3, * RT, LT, K4, rep from * to last 7 sts, RT, LT, K3.
12th row: K2, * RT, K2, LT, K2, rep from * to end.
14th row: K1, * RT, K4, LT, rep from * to last st, K1.
16th row: K8, * LT, K6, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.
NOTE
Travelling stitch to the left (LT), rows 2, 4, 6, 10, 12, 14 and 16, (A): Insert right-hand needle through the back of the second stitch on left-hand needle, wind yarn round needle and draw through a loop.
Travelling stitch to the left (LT), rows 2, 4, 6, 10, 12, 14 and 16, (B): Knit the first stitch on left-hand needle and allow both stitches to drop off the needle together. LT is now complete.
Travelling stitch to the right (RT), rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14: Knit next 2 stitches together and leave on left-hand needle. Insert right-handle needle between the two stitches just worked and knit stitch again. Allow both stitches to drop off the needle together.
saw this stitch done one of the baby beanies. was intrigued. Interesting tattice stitch. looks complicated. This stitch is so beautiful!!
