I have always embroidered eyes on the head with black thread until I reached my desired shape, though Im sure safety eyes are much quicker.

I always crochet a circle with black yarn for eyes. Its safer for kids.

I use shank buttons sometimes due to the variety of colors. Theyre also much easier to copy in resin if I need a very specific color.
Am thinking about felting the eyes as it looks so neat in some projects!
