This 1975 hardcover book by Phyllis Kluger has a wonderful variety of 102 needlepoint designs adapted from historical artwork. Each pattern is photographed in both color and black and white, with a clear chart showing stitch type, placement, and color.
The designs are grouped into 10 historical eras: Minoans, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Near East, Greece and Rome, Byzantine Empire, Middle Ages, Islam, Renaissance, 17th to 19th Century Europe, American Folk Art.
