Dyeing cross stitch fabric

These are my first attempts at dyeing my own fabric. With the grey piece I have a large full coverage chart that I am going to start that is very dark, mostly black and navy blue. I was afraid the white fabric would show thru too much and I didnt want my fabric black as I thought it would be harder to stitch on. I am very happy with the soft grey I ended up with.

For the ice dyed fabric I just wanted to play around and see what happened. I used 2 powdered dyes, yellow and tan. I never thought I would see all the different colors that I got. It looks a little different on each side. I will do this again with different colors. One thing I learned is to sew the edges first. It frayed a bit when I washed it but not enough to be a problem.
