Oh, darling, you’re absolutely right to think outside the box—amigurumi stuffing doesn’t have to come from a plastic bag! There are plenty of delightful, eco-friendly alternatives that can add charm and character to your creations. Wool fleece is a lovely natural option—soft, breathable, and it holds its shape beautifully over time. Those little leftover bits of yarn? Don’t toss them! They can be chopped up and used as stuffing, which is a great way to reduce waste and give your toys a bit of extra weight. Old cotton fabric scraps from worn-out shirts or sheets also work wonderfully and make for a thrifty, sustainable choice. If you have any old foam pillows or cushions, shredding them up can give your amigurumi a nice, dense feel. And then there’s kapok—a fluffy, lightweight natural fiber that’s biodegradable and perfect if you want to keep things eco-friendly. Really, the best stuffing is the one that suits your project and your heart, so don’t be afraid to get creative and try something new!

You could also use the stuffing from a pillow. Using a plastic bag doesn't sound safe to me. But maybe a little part for the sound. But a full bag would make me scared for suffocation.
