If I am super bored/uninterested I will put it aside for awhile. Sometimes the interest comes back, and if not I just take out the yarn and use it for something else.
I need to push myself sometimes very hard, but if the project is finished, I am glad that I did not gave up quickly.

Im in the process of making a large pattern that everyone correctly says "will take forever". But I just sit down in front of the TV, and enjoy doing needlework. I know the end result will be amazing, until then I just wont think about it much just keep going.
I am terrible for losing interest. I made my daughter the "moon and back" afghan last year.. i got the main afghan done, but still havent finished the border. I started the peppermint swirl afghan, got all the swirls done.. then lost where i was in the pattern for the edges, it still is in the project bag 4 yrs later :D i have started many amigurumis just to unravel and start another.. im terrible for finishing things.
Hello. I agree with some of the posters who said to put your project down for awhile and come back to it. I do that too and it almost feels like a new project and Im newly interested again. Hope this helps.:)
I normally have a few projects on the go at the same time. At the moment I have a sweater for me, a blanket for a new grandchild arriving next year and a massive cross stitch that has been on going for the last 2 years (it was meant to be for the first grandchild but will just have to wait and see if I ever finish it. I find if I have to do something I dont like I push myself to finish it quickly, my 17 year old chose some awful coloured wool and a gansey pattern and because I didnt like it I finished it in 2 weeks.
I have to admit, I lose interest in my projects very quickly. My solution is to have multiple projects going at the same time, takes longer to finish one but I never not have a project to do. If I have a deadline for a project, I have learned that I need way longer to complete so I give myself a few more months than I expect to finish.
I also cycle between crafts: I stitch, crochet, and knit. I usually set mini goals to motivate myself or take progress pictures.
I often start big projects and get bored after a while...I have learnt not to set deadlines for myself (unless it is something small that I am absolutely sure I can finish). I alternate between projects and different crafts, and if I am really bored with it I put it aside for a while.
Sometimes, when I pick up a project after a long break, I see something wrong with it and realise that this must have been why I did not want to finish it, even if I did not realise it at the time.
I dont tackle huge projects exactly for this reason though Ive printed a Haed to do...
