Current Trends (Crochet/Knitting)
I hope Im posting in the right area.Is there a good site to look at that updates the community on whats "hot" or trendy right now? Specifically for Crochet and Knit.
Every year at this time I try to find what the latest trends are for crochet and knitting (I do the majority of projects/gifts in the Fall and Winter) .I look through magazines, retailer websites, use Google, craft sites, designer fashion trends, social media, etc... Sometimes I get some good results but there is never a good consensus on what is trendy for the season.Like colors, type of yarn, type of knit/crochet items people want.For example, last year it was the oversized scarfs that reached your toes.A few years ago the whole arm knitting thing was a big trend.
I know most people (including myself) will say just go with what you like, but when I give DIY gifts, I like to stick to current trends as some of these items are really expensive in store and makes it hard for friends and family to justify the purchase.If Im capable, I can make it and get the current trendy item for them as a gift without spending $200 for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you are personalizing the gift, forget trends and focus on the person - favorite colors, favorite animals (for kids) do they love hats? shawls? lace or plain? Taylor your creating to the person you are creating your gift for. Trends will not last, but your hand made gift will. I agree with the person above and think its good advice.
