Rar patterns - help!!
Hello!Ive tried to dowload the program Winrar to uncode some patterns that are .rar (not pdf).
However, it seems that this program is not free... Is there an alternative to buying the program to access the files? Ive tried using online converters but I always get an error message.
My second question is: is it possible to upload patterns that are already on the site using another format?
For example, if a pattern is already publishe in a .rar version, is it possible to upload a pdf version?
Many thanks !! You could download 7zip. I have no personal experience with 7zip, but many other members seem to rely on it.
No,
.rar is a compressed file, so you can not upload a pdf version if the pattern already exists in a compressed file (and the compressed file may well contain a pdf file)
You can upload a different file format for cross stitch patterns; in that category we have scanned (jpg or pdf), or Pattern Maker files (.xsd), or PCStitch files (.pcs) I use 7zip myself and use the open archive function a lot to see what the zipped or rar file contains without actually opening the file itself.
I prefer 7zip over most others but use winrar to rar files up as 7zip has a tendency to add 001, 002 etc when I split files, and Im never sure it will work properly when uploaded to the site.
The only issue I have with the free Winrar is the constant nagging to purchase the software every time I open it.But its a minor inconvenience as I seldom use it. Ive been using 7zip and think it works great. Its free and easy to use.
I use WinRAR with no problems.:)
