I am using the free version of WinRar. Maybe that is the problem. I may have to purchase the paid...
I am also using the free version. I am on an older laptop at the moment, running Windows 7. I dont know whether the version of Windows makes a difference.

Im wondering what you see when you right click on a file/folder. This is what I see:



As you can see, I have several options, Add to archive... being one of them

Ok I think I found the problem. I was trying to load an already compressed .rar file and the option to split wasnt there.
Finally tried to load the "Original" .pdf and THERE IT WAS! file split.

thank you for your assistance, would have never figured it out on my own.
