Quality Vs. size
Hi,I find that trying to downsize the scannings of a magazine, it looses the quality.
How can I resize a PDF file and still keep the quality of the original scan (which in my case, is not that good in the first place).

In my experience, you can have one or the other.I do scan in many, many charts and I always scan in at 1200 dpi.I find anything less than 1200 the quality starts to go.
There is a setting in Adobe Acrobat that does reduce thesize of the file and I have found it doesnt reduce the quallity.
You can also select on the pieces you are scanning just the actual chart or pattern removing the white background and the page and numbers.
If I were you I would break it down to just the patterns into individual files or pdfs.So each pattern or chart would be its own file.
Experiment and see. You might be able to scan in at 800 and find the quality is almost as good as 1200.
But you could try 800 on smaller clear charts and see but go higher on larger more complex charts for cross stitch.
Using compression software once the scans are done will also work.I use winrar for this and set it on best for the best compression.
