How did you get started stitching?
How did you all get started cross stitching? My mom taught me when I was little!A collegue of my work did cross stitching, I told her I would never learned it.
My first project was smell bag, counting was difficult, she said dont give up, now I have made a lot of projects. :D I always start as if I write: from the top left corner For my 16th birthday, my Mom bought me three chart books, aida cloth, and floss. I learned in school 7th grade to whole class was given a small kit . Looking back that little pic would take maybe two hours but took a week worked on it everyday as homework. I just decided I wanted to try it and picked up a pattern.Only thing is I must have misread the instructions so my crosses are the opposite of most stitchers.By the time I realized that I "stitch backwards" there was no going back and relearning.
We learnt in school. Mums would volunteer their time to come in and teach small groups of the children. Wish children today had the same opportunities to learn crafts in schools My grandma taught me when I was little! Been doing it on and off ever since
