Should there be a limit on what you can charge for a pattern?
Edited by SallySue at 2020-3-10 22:00I noticed this morning that some of the repaints that have just been posted are charging 300 gold coins.Do you think this is excessive? When I look at patterns that were posted a few years back the costs were a lot lower than they are now.It seems to me that some members have gotten very, very greedy.Do you think the forum should set limits on gold coins charged? I always try and make my files affordable for new members. I guess if you really want a file you must save up to get it; but I do agree this site is for sharing and
if your motives are to make coin off of everyone else seems wrong. @SallySue To scan something means that the person should buy patterns for real money, then buy the scanner for real money. And after that they couldnt get virtual coins they expected? For me, personally, really difficult to scan, then to edit or even make repaint. I did repaints, I know how much time I spent doing this. Hours! And I appreciate if somebody did this for me.
If its not difficult or time consuming, looking forward to see new patterns or repaints from you for free soon. The person, who uploaded a pattern, may set any price they prefer. Anyway, its not so easy to scan or what ever they do with the pattern.
And its only my decision to pay for this pattern or no. Yes, Im limited with patterns I can download. But I do "pay" if I really need this pattern, I will embroider (sew, etc) it.
But if I only need it in my "pantry" on my PC, sure, I do not download. A lot of prices are way too high.I dont download very much at ALL b/c of it.Theres many patterns Id love to have, but then I see the price, and Im afraid to get it b/c something I like more might come up. There should be a limit and it should be low.The worst part is, someone else cant upload the same pattern for a lower price to compete! Edited by Puppy at 2020-3-10 16:37
I think this is excessive!! :(Yes, some members have gotten very greedy.
I don’t know whether a gold coins limit is needed or members will "vote" by downloading. :dizzy: @Puppy and LouAnna, I totally agree. But that said I think there is a thread on the topic and how much coins each level is allowed to charge. Lv0. 50 Lv1. 100 and so on up to lv9. 900 which is ridiculously high. I had a look for that thread but I dont see it where I last seen it. So maybe its been taken down. These high download costs are really just gouging to make coin as fast as possible and is just not right. Members can charge according to their levels.
http://www.pindiy.com/thread-354266-1-1.html for me it doesnt really matter - I dont do excessive downloading either No matter how much I want the pattern if I think the price is too high I just wont download it.There is a maximum by level that people can charge but having said that, just because you can doesnt make it right to me.Ive belong to this site since the time when almost everything was free except the download charged by the site itself.its gone up dramatically.I know its not real money but it takes time to build up the GCs to "buy" anything and tack on the site charge of 30 GCs makes some things out of reach for new members (and old alike).Since my surgery and treatment for cancer I cant sit at the computer like I used to so building up points for posting is difficult for me.Ive become very particular about what I download even though I have a lot of GCs and I just feel its out right wrong the greed that is happening... I totally agree, if members asked so much for their patterns, a few will download them.
Starters who would have them, must earn a lot of coins before they can download.
There must be a limit at it. And its not by asking a lot of Points for each proposed model that new or old visitors will easily download. In any case, you have to be reasonable. In my practice, in the "Cross stitch Patterns Scanned" section, more than 90 GC is not profitable for me: few downloads.
Optimally - 50-60 GC.
My pattern will not be downloaded if I put a price 800 GC. I will get nothing.
