The Big Y by Hinterm Stein

This raglan sweater seems quite simple but has smart little details - and is easy to knit.
The Big Y refers to the rib stitches that begin at the neck, become the raglan detail, wrap around the armhole and eventually merge together for the side tailoring. Once merged, this rib pattern gradually moves forward towards the front and provides the illusion of side shaping without decreasing and increasing the total number of body stitches.
The split hem is designed with a longer back and an overlap that keeps it neat.
The removable turtle neck cowl is especially shaped to cover your shoulders properly.
I wish you fun and a relaxing time, knitting this sweater! The Big Y sweater is a seamless top down project, easy and quick to knit and manageable even for less experienced knitters. You start with the neckband and optional neckline shaping with short rows (explained). Then the raglan is worked to underarms, where sleeve stitches are placed on hold and the body is finished until the split hem. Build the Y-shape and melt the ribs together by de- and increasing … easy and intuitive.
