Help with knitting socks (colorwork)?
Edited by ValiantLuna at 2022-3-4 02:47Hi all!
I want to make my first pair of knitted socks, but I am running into the problem of ladders in the cuff of the sock and my sock getting too tight to when I start with my color work. It just wont fit over my heel :( I am working with a magic loop and would love any tips or tricks!
Thankyou in advance ♡
Ittakes practice to do color-work without bunching. Take this as an exercise.
You are probably not leaving enough slack in your floats on the WS. I suggest you find some youtube tutorials on how to do color-work.
And do not fret. practice, keep on this sock until you get your tension right, then frog this sock and make the best pair of killer color-work socks ever! static/image/common/user_online.gif pitussa static/image/common/clock.gif 2022-3-3 22:38

Thank you very much for the advice! I think I watched every YouTube video I could find lol, but you’re so right about practicing. I always want to do things perfect on the first go (which isn’t really possible). I’ll go and do some more knitting on it tomorrow :) static/image/common/user_online.gif ValiantLuna static/image/common/clock.gif 2022-3-3 16:13

SOmething I find helpful to keep those floats less tight is to knit in the round with the RS (right side) of my fabric inside the tube, and the WS facing out.
A bit like this:
