I usually just have a notepad I keep track in, either digitally or just paper and pencil, but sometimes I have a ring one with a button. I find it's a bit more heavy than I normally like, but for things like the sophie scarf where you need to repeatedly keep a count of 8 it's very good.

I have one of these (more actually, I throw one into each project bag). I hate having it on my hand while knitting or crocheting, I feel it gets in the way. But it's great for keeping track on projects where I have 400+ rows. Only downside is that it sometimes randomly resets by itself?

Me too!! There are past pages in my journal that I didn't fill in, and that becomes a defacto page for tallying rows and stitches for a particular section of a project.
