Cable knit sweater inspo + tips needed
Edited by anniekins at 2024-1-11 08:37I want to make an oversized gray cabled sweater because I have quite a bit of soft gray yarn that my neighbor gifted me. Id love any pattern recommendations or specific photos for inspiration if you have any. Id also love any tips on remembering what row youre on so you remember where you have to hold stitches. Its always a bit of a hassle for me since I have to stop and double-check where Im at because I always forget what row Im on.
I use knitcompanion for charts (works on android and iphone) and it takes a bit to get used to, but you can mark where you are with a yellow higlighter and I am now addicted to this app LOL
I stopped printing patterns, and no longer use my magnetic pad for chartkeeping static/image/common/user_online.gif pitussa static/image/common/clock.gif 2024-1-11 09:13

Thank you Ill look into it! You can thread a lifeline or put a stitch marker on the edge of every 5 to 10 rows, whatever works for you. If its your first time cabling, I really recommend the lifeline! Some circular needles have a hole near the cable join where you can easily add a lifeline and it will get caught inside stitches as you knit across the row.
As for patterns, Patons has a free cable sweater pattern called "Patons Honeycomb Aran Sweater". If you search Google for that youll find it easily. I havent knit that particular pattern, but it looks very nice!
You can also look at cable stitch glossaries and try to find a main motif that you like the look of, and then search for patterns that feature that motif. static/image/common/user_online.gif tooty static/image/common/clock.gif 2024-1-11 19:21
