Best ways to keep mohair fluffs from going everywhere

What is your solution to stop mohair yarn from shedding fluffs of fiber everywhere when knitting?
I dont like how tangly it gets and how difficult it is to unravel if I make a mistake. Then, when I unravel, its messy. Do you have any tips to avoid that?

Ive never used mohair either, but Im interested in other replies here. From my experience with other yarn, sometimes a yarn just has to "shed" a certain amount and it will stop being so messy after a while.

I dont use mohair for these specific reasons (Im alergic to it as well :P), but you might try a substitue to get the same effect.Surri Alpaca is one fibre that is recommended quite a bit as a substitue for mohair.

The Woolly Badger has a great write up on different fibres and yarns that can be substituted for mohair on her blog that was recently posted which you might like to check out.Just do a google search for the "the Woolly Badger mohair substitute" and you should be able to find it right off since we arent supposed to post direct links offsite.

Unfortunately if you want to knit with mohair you have to deal with all the drawbacks that entails, but if you are open to a substitute, you can still have the effect, but not as many hassles. You just have to be open to trying something new.

Do people find mohair itchy? I am sensitive to a lot of wool and hesitant to try it for that reason

I don’t really find much of a problem with it if I crochet with it.
