Questions about knitting

Hello! If the pattern calls for 3 strands of mohair how would using only one strand affect the result? Would it be too fragile or would the size change in any way?

The fabric would not be as dense, strong, or stiff, and whatever you make would likely be see-through. There would probably be gauge changes, as well, but the major difference is that youre creating an entirely different fabric. I would not recommend dropping to a single strand of mohair if mohair is the only yarn called for and there are 3 strands used in the pattern.

I would knit with 1 mohair strand and at least another lace strand, the result would be more lacy than the original (one less mohair/lace strand),but sturdy enough.

But if your mohair has silk or another "carrier" material, depending on how sturdy that is... I might risk it ;)
