Knitting and embroidery

I am from Portugal and I live at Póvoa de Varzim, a fishermans village that is known for having embroidered gainsays. Looking at old photos, I see a mixture of embroidered stitches. Do you ever heard about traditional embroidered knitted works?

Hello :)I looked up what you were talking about, I was really impressed with your local embroidery on knitwork. Ive seen it around on instagram before, it looks lovely to trasform a garment or to hide a little pulled thread/hole. Ill probably be using it soon, Id like to embroider small bees on my nieces sweater. Thanks for sharing and happy crafting :)

I dont know if it will bee the best approach, because of all the friction you have on that zone, but i guess if you do them above the heel you wont have such a problem.

Nowadays they only use cross stitch. But you can see other types of stitches.
Im trying to reproduce the flowers on the vertical zig-zag but is really difficult to achieve something that resembles it...
