Sunflower Fairy by Nora Corbett
Edited by babo4ka at 2025-2-3 10:23Sunflower Fairy, my first Nora Corbett design. This beauty is a quick and easy stitch. I used a Saga pattern found on this Forum. The recommended fabric by the designer was Copper Penny Hand-dyed linen 32 ct (see the second photo). I changed it to a lime linen 30/32 ct (yes, not an evenweave so my finished fairy got a bit taller and skinnier, lol). That was also my first time using Valdani varigated threads which I found on Etsy. Initially this floss feels a bit rough and dry by touch but as you get used to it, you come to enjoy those amazing tints and slight changes in the thread as you go with you crosses. There are 9 Valdani threads, 2 Kreinik colors and 3 Mill Hill bead colors used in this fairy. The finished project size is approx. 6" x 7". I used an oval Celley embroidery hoop to stitch (bought on Amazon) and used the same hoop as a frame covering the back side with a green fabric (see the last photo). Starting date: January 25th. Finished: February 2nd.
