Another knitting magazine is closing down (sale)
Edited by anniekins at 2025-3-3 23:59So apparently, Making Stories Magazine is closing down its business. They are having a sale on physical and digital products until the end of March. Their print and digital versions of the magazine are dropped down to 5 Euros if anyone is interested. They won't be selling them further after March
10 years seems to be the "magic" number for closings - three shops here have closed after 10 years in business, very sad. Last year, Sandnes Garn stopped their printed pattern magazine and is digital-only. It sucked, but I can see why they did it. Since SG has other products, they were able to adjust their business. Still sad to see the printed format go. JoAnn's recently announced the shut down of all stores. It's odd that many decades-old businesses that have survived other global crises including 2007/8 financial crisis are not able to cope these days, kurukurokurin replied at 2025-3-1 02:20

Yes I agree. Also, the diversity of successful designers and designs diminished a lot in recent years with Petite Knit and others. I don't mean diversity as race, ethnicity etc, but designs themselves
Sad to see but given how many people are struggling, it can't be easy to sell a magazine showcasing such beautiful and expensive yarn used to make things that take so much time. So many people don't have that time or the money to spend... Dolalah replied at 2025-3-1 18:41
