Knitting ideas for 11/12 years old kids
Hi, I'm looking for some cool knitting ideas or pattern to knit with eleven or twelve years old school kids. It should not be too difficult so they can do it on their own.Thanks a lot!
Fingerless gloves knitted flat are quick (quicker than scarves) and fairly easy. I like NimbleNeedles' pattern on Youtube Or knitted miniature scarf bookmarks? more background info would be useful, like time frame, gender and skill, I have never seen or heard 11 year old knitting lol…is it to teach them knitting? if so, they must make something they are proud of afterwards and use it, like boys I would let knit a simple strip scarf and girls maybe a little poncho in the round Sorry for the late reply! I second blueraspbeary in the idea of fingerless gloves made flat. They come out nicer in my opinion if made in the round, but magic loop can be slightly tricky and double-pointed needles can be intimidating! The thumb could also be intimidating, but they'll certainly learn a lot! Anyways, they'll be nice and interesting enough for the children.
I would stay away from scarves! They take a while and can be boring to knit! Unless you plan on making 'stitch showcase' scarves that frequently change stitch type to keep it interesting.
If they are daring kids and aren't intimidated by knitting in the round, hats are easy, quick, and always good to have in winter. There might be a thousand different ways they can add a personal touch to them as well.
If the point is learning a lot about knitting, socks are the perfect challenge. Everyone likes knitted socks, and if you've never tried them, you should! But, there are many techniques to learn, and if they are a bunch of children, there might not be a lot of time to teach each of them the proper technique.
