Donate past projects
Where do people donate their old projects? I have a lot of various projects but mostly beanies and socks since I'm still learning.I have the same question! I have tonnes of old projects (most of which were while I was a beginner crocheter) - butterflies, ice creams, rainbows, dragons, flowers - you name it, I have it! Looking forward to seeing what people suggest on here, thanks for asking the question! Edited by ChrisPBacon at 2025-4-6 07:29
Some donation options:
- homeless shelters
- some hospitals will take neonate sized items for babies, or amigurumi for sick kids
- animal shelters will often take thick floor pads (multiple worsted yarns held together into a blanket) or other pet friendly items
- soup kitchens / food pantries can take items to disperse to their clients
- police departments may take items for police to disperse to homeless on the streets
- Snappy Tots does some events where people send her beanies and she sends them to US service members overseas (look up "Beanies for Bravery". there are strict color requirements for these beanies) She also does another event for water bottle slings (or something like that) that I don't know much about.
- Cancer organizations may take hats for their clients
- a local senior center can take items for their eldery clients (beanies, lap blankets, wheel chair blankets, cozy socks etc)
So many good ideas. It's nice to pass things on to someone who will appreciate them. i think homeless shelters would like some!! if you have projects fit for babies like clothes or plushies (but the plushies have to meet certain safety standards, especially if you use safety eyes), they would probably take them in a heartbeat!! Find a charity you can trust. For example I give my project to a Cat Shelter. It is non profit organisation, and thehave 180 abandoned cats. I give the volounteers my amigurumi and they sell them on their kiosk during markets ortown events.
