What do you watch or listen to while you craft?

Hi! I just joined and I'm really excited to get chatting to people. I've just finished watching Only Murders in the Building while I've been working on my cross stitch. What do other people watch or listen to when they are crafting? I'm always on the look out for more things to have on in the background. I think part of it is finding a balance between something interesting to watch but not too distracting. I've been listening to a lot of audiobooks as well - just finished one that was about what would happen if the moon turned to cheese which was a very funny read.

I’m currently watching the Pokémon anime while I crochet some Pokémon amigurumi. Generally I like things that aren’t too challenging to follow: police procedurals, medical dramas, Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Oh honey, now that’s a good question—because let me tell you, the background entertainment is half the fun! When I’m crocheting, I like to have something going that keeps me company without distracting me so much I start crocheting a hat when I meant to make a potholder. ?Most days, I’ll put on one of those cozy British mysteries—you know the kind, where someone gets bonked on the head with a candlestick, but there’s no blood and everybody still makes tea afterward. Midsomer Murders, Father Brown, or Miss Marple—love ‘em all. And if I’m in more of a silly mood, I’ll turn on those old sitcom reruns. Golden Girls is my go-to. Those ladies knew how to dish out a one-liner like nobody’s business!Sometimes, I’ll listen to an audiobook or a podcast too—especially the ones where people just chat about everyday life or tell old ghost stories. Something about that while you’re stitching along just feels like sitting on the porch with a friend.Of course, when the grandkids are over, I end up watching whatever animated nonsense they love that week—and somehow still manage to get a row or two done in between snack requests and Lego catastrophes. ?

me too, I like to watch Twitch gaming, sometimes I stuck to a gamer for hours while crafting and get asked hello who are you? u are watching so long now and not talking to me? (they see who is watching them for how long) especially when they are low viewers streams, I then say sorry Im busy crafting and cant write in the chat and they reply oh okay (what a weirdo ?)…there are also many crafting streams on twitch, so you can actually craft with someone together...otherwise of course the DJ music streams are also great (if electronic techno is your thing)

otherwise audiobooks, podcasts or yt videos (paranormal, horror, travel, reddit real life stories)
recently we got a new TV with streaming TV is included, I love to watch the travelxp channel for hours, they show non-stop indian produced travel reports with different destinations and topics, just perfect background while crafting...the unsolved mysteries channel (true crime from the 80s/90s) is also great

I've recently finished Pantheon, a little science fiction series. I like watching animations that keep my brain interested as I mostly knit clothes, which, unless you're working with a chart or colorwork, is very repetitive and can be... boring, in a very peaceful and enjoyable way! But still, boring. So adding a series that I can watch and think about while I work on my stockinette stitch is perfect. Also, since I work in science, it's fun!

If I am, however, working on something where I have to concentrate, I put on some cookalongs, knitalongs, you get the gist. It makes me feel accompanied and entertained enough to enjoy the work. So far, my absolute favorite has been Cooking with Babish. He makes delicious food!

I haven't seen either of those, but I am going to put How I Met Your Mother on my to watch list. i've heard loads of good things about it and it seems so good to craft to - nice and easy. Same as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I like true crime, but only during the day haha. Netflix has really good true crime stuff though - it's been a while since i've looked through it. Thanks for the suggestions!

Usually True Crime on streaming platforms.
Or knitting podcasts on YT

YT has so much crafty stuff to watch. I haven't watched any knitting stuff for a while - it's been ages since I've knitted anything. but there is so much stuff on flosstube! I'll have to explore some knitting podcasts too and see if it inspires me to start knitting again

I'm still beginning to knit so I still have to look at my needles when knitting so I can't really watch stuff yet while knitting.. but I listen to true crime a lot. Hopefully I can get better soon so I can watch my kdramas while knitting.

I watch tv shows that I’ve watched before and love. That way I know what’s happening without having to watch closely.

When I x-stitch I usually "watch" a streaming show. More like listening with a few glances up here and there
