Free downloads not free?
Edited by anniekins at 2025-11-11 10:53Hi.
I am confused over the free download section.
It says free downloads, but there is pin attached to the files so its not free, you still get charged?
Can you explain how this works. Are they free or not?thanks,
LG.X
Hi! If the item says “free” in the title then it can’t be more than 10 pin. You receive 10 pin for commenting on a pattern post and also for visits the site each day. So, I think most people comment on a free pattern post, receive 10 pin and then are able to get the pattern. I would note though, if there is no amount as the pin cost, the pattern deducts 30 pin. I’m not sure why it does this. Best wishes! It looks like we do not pay the board 'tax' just the price set by the poster. Example a cross stitch repaint would not charge the 199pin that goes to Pindiy just the price the member who shared it set.:) Thanks for the replies.
So just to understand, if a pattern costs 100 pin, i get charged 100 pin but no system tax. So no -30 on top?
So they aren't free really as you still need to pay the the pin price by the uploader? Correct, the 30 pin (it’s actually 30% of the pattern pin cost) is deducted from what the pattern poster receives and not in addition to your cost.In my experience, you only pay the amount listed by the pin space, except when no number is listed there and then, for a reason unknown to me, you pay 30 pin. Using your example, if the pattern is 100pin you exchange 100 pin and the pattern poster receives . Perfectly explained, thank you very much.
Appreciate you taking the time. I went to buy a pattern that doesnt says anything and it deducts 10 points and then it implies that I need another 30 points that i didnt have so is not well explained but more or less is like that
