Question about yarn usage

How does knitting use less yarn Than crochet? I saw someone say knitting uses less yarn but how?

It really depends, but I guess it's because of how the stitches are made! Crochet often has more 'loops' in their stitches, so that requieres more yarn. On the other hand, knitting is ofter just purling and knitting, so a simple loop done one way or another, but still singular.
