There are loads of seafaring legends of the Sargasso Sea with confused sailors fearing seaweed meant shallow water and also that the seaweed itself would trap their boats. The Sargasso Sea is now famous for a unique ecosystem because of the Sargassum specifically under for eel species, sea turtles, fish and sea birds above.
