I like going rogue with my patterns sometimes...Like using a different yarn weight than the recommended one. It feels like a whole new project...And sometimes I've had to rip the project back becuase my "creative path" didn't work out (I have another post coming about this)

Has anyone else done this?

I often substitute different yarns - mostly successful, but occasionally a disaster as I’m also averse to swatching so jump straight in

SAME - haha. I hate swatching, so I'll usually make a 6inx2in rectangle and call it good, lol. [:  Details Reply Post time 2026-1-20 17:19

Every time! I think I have an issue with this! hahaha.
I do my swatch but always do some modification, so my sweaters never looks exactly like the pattern.

I normally adjust gauge, knit a bigger size or smaller to get what I need

I do this all the time too! Although I also mix weights within the same projects sometimes when I'm missing the correct yarn and that usually ends messily.
