Pattern holders?
Edited by anniekins at 2015-7-22 11:02Hey, does anyone know of anything you can buy to hold your pattern in place, like when you have 2 sheets that you are working across?
My mum saw something where you had a magnetic board and then strips of magnets to hold the pattern on, but have never since it more than once.
Any suggestions would be great I use spring clips and fasten the pattern directly to my work a lot of the time so that it is always right in from of me.But with the ability to convert most patterns into a PDF i also use an ipad when I can supersize the design so I don't have to strain as much to see the pattern I am working on. You can use needle minders to hold your pattern on your project (if on a frame) or even just on some stiff card.I have one of the old magnetic boards, and strip magnets. They were great. You can buy magnetic strips on a roll (3m) on amazon. I recently purchased a 12-inch square magnetic board and 4-heavy duty circular magnets to hold the pattern area I am working on. To follow my stitches I use magnetic stripes and a highlighter. The circular magnets double as a needle minder. static/image/common/user_online.gif d3lta static/image/common/clock.gif 2022-4-28 16:46

This sounds very useful. I would use a magnetic planner with needle minders or some cardboard with heavy duty paper clips. Following this thread Thanks for the info! Esto suena muy útil. That is a LoRan board - last time I saw one for sale was in Hobbycraft. I have 3 of them - 2 large and one small for travelling. Like Red1....... I also use a Loran board , but my friend uses a metal rectangle food tray with magnets on to hold the paper chart, and props it up with cushions. I have the loran board somewhere in my stash. I think they are great to hold your chart in place; mine came with the magnetic magnifier. Which in my opinion is a pain because you have to keep moving it to colour in what you have done on the chart.:(But the board is great!:) I use a magnetic board - not a Loran one but the same thing.I use magnetic strips to mark where I am which means I can colour in where I've embroidered without moving the strip. I am now going to look for one as i am intriged Have you thought about making one? I bought a piece of sheet metal in a home improvements centre. Its the width of two sheets of paper side by side and as tall. I painted it, added strip magnets I found in a crafts store and put it on my table top easel and use the magnets to keep my place. Very clever ideas!
