Hello everyone!

I was wondering maybe someone from cross stitch community can point me to the right direction. I started supersize project and been working on it for few years now. I'm 88% done, but I'm running out of DMC#3799. When I started the project, I did not buy enough skeins of 3799, and a couple years ago DMC changed the dye in this number and the new color is slightly different. Because the project is 762x999 stitches I did not have enough money to buy all the floss I needed at the time, and to be honest I did not think it would change like that. But, I can see the difference between old lot and new lot, so it's bothering me that they are different. I'm already so close from completing this project and of course will use new lot, if I will have no other choice. Before I do that, I wanted to check everywhere I can. The new lot has a dot (.) after the number 3799 and its available everywhere, but old lot was pulled. I'm hoping maybe someone has information where i can possibly buy the old lot. I will also check with DMC as well.
Alny help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Where do you live?  I have several skeins and none have a dot after the number.  I would be happy to send you some if you aren't too far away.

I found this on the internet which may be of interest.

If the dot appears after the number (like 3799.), it is generally an internal DMC manufacturing or dye-lot routing code, not a color formula change.

Yes, I have run into this too and it makes me mad. A few suggestions for next time if you think you are going to run out soon 'mix' the old with the new. Take one strand of old and new put together and stitch as usual. Sometimes this makes the color change less obvious then continue on with the new. Most patterns list the of amount of stitches per color.  Use this a guide only. All depends on each individual stitchers technique. I will usually buy an extra skein to be safe.
14-count Aida: ~1,500 to 1,800 stitches.....16-count Aida: ~2,000 stitches...18-count Aida: ~2,200 stitches.

My rule for buying a lot of floss the same color,  newer dmc skeins have a number on the label that has the barcode on it. The number is right abovd the barcode. I was told that was the dye lot of that particular run. So I purchase them with all of the same numbers. If you need around 12 I would purchase a 'box' of floss from a retail shop, the box has 12 skeins.

Best of luck in your search and project.

It's weird, I've been stitching for 30+ years and I've never had a "dye lot" DMC problem.
