Patterns from books & magazines

Im new to the site and just curious as to why patterns from books and/or magazines are not allowed?  Thanx :)

Forum Rules for Knitting and Crochet section:

6- We no longer will accept an individual pattern that has been taken from a book , magazine or booklet.  
We have been having a lot of problems to find such individual patterns when someone uploads the complete book/magazine/booklet because of  the lack of information on the titles.

What if the magazine, issue number or volume, and date are available along with the actual name of the design?

afaik, you can upload a magazine, but not individual patterns taken from the magazine. :)

Got it.  Does the entire magazine have to be included or just the pictures and directions?

complet magazine is
cover, index,pictures, charts and inctructions


incomplete magazines or books are a nuisance for each user,
a picture without chart and instructions is worthless
and ensures complaints

Thanks again.  I have a lot of Vogue knitting from the 90s scanned for my own personal use.  I didnt scan covers, indexes, or anything other than photos and instructions so wasnt sure if I could share them or not.  Not like there isnt plenty out there already:)

If they need the cover you might find it in Google images. Also, if the index is missing, surely that isnt a massive problem
