Question about selling your works.

I only do cross stitch so dont know what the market would be for selling knitting and crochet but if its garments I think people would pay to get a nice hand made sweater or scarf etc.  As for cross stitch theres so much work involved  and it takes so long that I really dont think you would ever get back even a fraction of what the piece is worth - even if its small, everything takes time.  Plus I dont think people really appreciate the work that goes into a cross stitch - they think you can make something in a few weeks!  So I just make things for myself and occasionally Ill make a card for someone.

I do it also, for myself and my dad, only a Christmascard for the one I love. Your own work will not be finished, and the one who asked you wanted for free or a apple and a egg.  Post time 2017-10-5 22:33
I know exactly what you mean!! A friend of mine asked me to stitch a Heaven and Earth Design for her which is huge and thought it would take me about 3 months to do - I told her it would probably tak  Details Reply Post time 2017-10-5 22:01
Yes I agree, I give you a example, a neighbour asked me to stitch The Balinese Woman, in a month, out of her mind. I took me a year. Later she said it cost to much linnen and the threads.  Post time 2017-10-5 17:04

I make things for myself, for gifts, and some to sell. I sew a lot and I make toys and other items for children to sell. It helps support my crafting habit! :)
My embroidery and cross stitching is mainly for myself or gifts.

I know exactly what you mean!!  A friend of mine asked me to stitch a Heaven and Earth Design for her which is huge and thought it would take me about 3 months to do - I told her it would probably take a couple of years!!  And when I told her how much the materials would be she looked at me as if I was crazy!  So I didnt stitch it for her!
