Pattern Collecting

I must admit that as much as I can I am an antique knitting pattern collecter.  As much as I can any new stuff is digital, and stored/indexed/tagged in the free library software Calibre where I can easily browse and search for whatever I am in the mood to knit.  My antique patterns are stored on a special heavy duty bookshelf, each in their own page protector so they dont get dusty or stick together.  I love just going thru the books, looking for my next project, or just dreaming.

My collecting of antique patterns began when I received my grandmothers and great grandmothers, and great great grandmother knitting patterns.  I fell in love with them, and started looking for old patterns when I went antique hunting.  I must admit finding the old patterns is getting harder and harder to find.  It seems to me that either a lot of the old patterns are just getting thrown out, or people like me are realizing what a treasure trove the old patterns are.

How do you collect your patterns? Paper or digital? How do you store your patterns?

Most of my patterns are digital, but I also have many books that I havent scanned yet.  I prefer digital format because its easier for me to use, and only print out complex charts.  My digital patterns are all stored on my computer, with some of the ones I want to use also on my tablet.  And theyre all backed up on another external flash drive.  My books are (sadly) scattered throughout the house, LOL.

I will share some of the older ones when I get a chance to scan them.  Up until now I havent thought about scanning them before.  They are very very fragile, and will take a lot of care and work to scan, or picture them.
