Rust marks on fabric

Does any one have any tips about the removal of rust marks where a needle has been left in the fabric.

Rust comes off with some fresh lemon juice.

I forgot to explain: you pour a small amount on the stain, you leave it for about 20 minutes than you wash it with a mild shampoo. you can repeat if necessary. However, i do not know whether the lemon juice will affect the color of the fabric (if dyed) or of the floss (if the area affected is already stitched).
