I myself like both as its always nice to switch between both depending on the project, but I wanted to know if anyone works exclusively with one or another or has a preference.
I dislike everything about chenille yarn. Above everything it lacks durability and behaves extremely poorly escpecially when it comes to wearables.
Aside, I dislike the way it looks (thats a matter of taste) and the non-sustainability of it (which also applies to acrylic).
Id always choose acrylic over chenille... but cotton/wool blends have my preference overall.

Yeahh, I feel you. Same here too. I live in a country where its expensive to bring things in, and ...
It basically comes down to, do I want to spend $12 on 50 yards of chenille yarn, or $5 for 300 yards of acrylic? :P If something is going to be a gift or I plan to sell something, Ill go for the chenille a lot of the time :)
I also tend to choose different types of yarn depending on the project. If I only use one type of yarn, it seems like there are fewer opportunities to try various projects.

It seems like mine is an unpopular opinion, but I love plush yarn! It looks great and its so soft, to me its the best choice for amigurumis! The only problem that I have with it (besides the fluff everywhere) is that in my city its really difficult to find, so I usually have to order it online...
But I do also get why many people loves acrylic yarn: its really cheap, can be found everywhere, the stitches looks so much neater, no fluff and no breakage when pulled LOL
Ive never bought chenille yarn, but I do have a partial skein of it given to me by someone else that I have no idea what to do with!
I live in a warm climate, so I try to use bamboo/cotton/linen yarns when possible, or alpaca blends for the couple of warm months.
I have a ton of single skeins of acrylic in my stash though from when I was a broke college student, so I need to figure out what to do with all those as well.
